Hi Reader, There’s something you need to know about me. I will give unsolicited advice. In Ubers, in offices, at restaurants…Sometimes I can’t help but voice the idea that hits me like a lightning bolt. Sometimes the advice receiver takes the idea and runs with it—which I love! Sometimes they straight-up ignore it. 🤷♀️ And other times, it’s a reset. It's a fleeting thought that leads them to something even better. Here’s the thing. Unsolicited advice from a stranger doesn’t have nearly the same impact as advice from someone inside your Circle of Trust (shout out to my MBA professor for reminding me about that gem of a movie). The way I see it, once you’ve earned a spot in the Circle of Trust, your ideas carry even more weight. That’s what makes brainstorming with clients so exciting. When you’re in that circle, the sparks really start to fly, and the ideas can go so much further. For example, I was recently catching up with a client over the phone. Within a few minutes, she shared that she was feeling stuck on how to move forward on a decision. I told her, “Fill me in. Maybe I can help.” When she did, I immediately had an intuition of what she could do next—and I let that idea fly. It was the spark she needed to take action. 🎇 While there’s always a risk that an in-the-moment idea won’t land, that’s not really the point in the end. Sometimes the spark is all you need, especially when it’s coming from your Circle of Trust. As the Right Brain, that intuitive brainstorming is kind of my thing. I’m the idea generator who’s not afraid to throw out a thought to get you out of your head. Rachel is the calculated, research-driven force who makes sure all our recommendations are backed by solid, data-driven logic. In your Circle of Trust, I think you need a bit of both. If you’re stuck on an idea, come to my next office hours on Wednesday, October 16! This is an agenda-free time to chat through your marketing or business questions so you can make your next move.
To solicited advice from the right people,

Hi Reader, When you look at Martha Stewart, you see someone who made cooking, homekeeping, and decorating mainstream. When you look at Michael Phelps, you see the world’s most decorated Olympian. When you look at Damon John, you see an A-list CEO and charismatic Shark Tank personality. As I listened to each of those very successful people speak at this year’s Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Summit, it was the reality of their low-lows that really stuck with me. Martha went to prison for...

Hi Reader, The first time our website server had a serious security breach (circa 2012), damage control was a nightmare. I essentially had to manually rebuild every client website. Hours and hours and hours of work… If I hadn’t done that, however, I wouldn’t have accidentally become an expert in website security. I’ve been able to apply everything I learned to every other website project, which means we’ve avoided a ton of threats. While it’s much less of an ordeal to problem-solve nowadays,...
