šŸŒ±šŸš€ā˜€ļø Drio’s August Recap: Growing, Building & Catching Up

Hi Reader,

August was a month of evolving, connecting, and looking ahead. From continuing to grow long-term client partnerships and digging into important website privacy updates, to refreshing Office Hours and getting closer to sharing what’s next with WholeSite, there’s been a lot happening behind the scenes at Drio. Here’s a little peek at what we were working on throughout the month.

🌱 How United Way of Central Maryland’s Website Keeps Evolving

We’re highlighting one of our favorite long-term partnerships with United Way of Central Maryland and what happens after a website goes live. Since launching their new site, we’ve continued working alongside their team as their brand evolves, new campaigns launch, and new functionality is needed.

Their recent Dine United campaign is a great example. UWCM brought us the concept and initial direction, and we helped turn it into a polished digital experience that can continue to grow with the campaign.

It’s exactly the kind of relationship we love: their team confidently handles the day-to-day, and Drio is there when it’s time to tackle something bigger.

šŸš€ WholeSite Update

Big things are happening with WholeSite, and we’re getting close to sharing more. Want to be the first to know what’s coming? Subscribe for WholeSite updates and we’ll make sure you’re in the loop.

šŸ”CIPA Review

We’ve been digging into the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) and what it could mean for website owners using tools like Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, chat tools, and other tracking scripts. And because California residents can visit a website from anywhere, this isn’t necessarily just a California-business issue.

Website owners who aren’t properly managing these tracking tools could face legal demand letters or lawsuits, so we’re reviewing our clients’ Termageddon and cookie consent setups to help reduce unnecessary privacy risk.

šŸ› ļø Behind the Scenes

Rachel’s been giving her Office Hours a refresh and making them more interactive and practical. This month, she walked through the five things she looks for when reviewing a homepage: clarity, calls to action, credibility, readability, and whether visitors have a clear next step.

She also did a live website review using a local design-build firm as an example, showing how even a polished website can have opportunities to improve accessibility, page speed, calls to action, and the overall visitor journey.

ā˜€ļø Summer Catch Ups

As summer winds down and everyone starts settling back into the office, we’ve been having fun catching up with clients and friends. We’ve loved hearing about where everyone’s been traveling, what they’ve been up to, and all the summer adventures in between.

We hope you had a great summer too! As everyone gets back into the swing of things, we’ll be checking in and saying hello.

If we haven’t caught up with you yet, hit reply. We’d love to hear what you’ve been up to.

Thanks for being part of our journey.

If your organization’s ready for its own award-winning transformation, let’s talk.

Hi Reader, Rachel and I recently went to a presentation for international exchange alumni (because of our Professional Fellows experience). During the event, one of the presenters shared how he’s now working with a peacebuilding organization called Mediators Beyond Borders. You know I’m all about a good analogy, and I absolutely loved the one he referenced. He described peacebuilding as similar to the Japanese art form kintsugi, which is done by repairing broken pottery using a gold substance...

Hi Reader, I don’t usually work late, but when I do, it’s because I’m fully immersed in something, head down, earbuds in. Recently, I was up late working on WholeSite, the AI-assisted website building tool we’re developing. When I finally came home, I asked my husband if he wanted to see what I had been doing. I hadn’t actually told him much about WholeSite yet, so I gave him the spiel. I told him WholeSite will allow entrepreneurs to create a high-quality WordPress website on their own. It...

Hi Reader, July was filled with connection, learning, and meaningful impact. From exchanging ideas with entrepreneurs and global leaders to launching a refreshed digital experience for a mission-driven organization and staying ahead of important website security updates, the month offered valuable opportunities to grow, collaborate, and support the communities we serve. šŸš€ Learning from DC-Area Startup Founders On July 16, Rachel attended the Korea Innovation Center Washington DC’s TeX...
