Hi Reader, The first time our website server had a serious security breach (circa 2012), damage control was a nightmare. I essentially had to manually rebuild every client website. Hours and hours and hours of work… If I hadn’t done that, however, I wouldn’t have accidentally become an expert in website security. I’ve been able to apply everything I learned to every other website project, which means we’ve avoided a ton of threats. While it’s much less of an ordeal to problem-solve nowadays, security breaches do still happen. Unfortunately, potential threats are out there every day, and they’re constantly getting smarter. Also, every security situation is unique, which means every hiccup is a chance to learn. If we’re not learning, we’re doing something wrong, right? That’s true for any type of project you work on. There are always going to be opportunities to plug new holes you weren’t aware of before, no matter how many years of experience you have. It can be stressful in the moment, but it always leads to something better if you open yourself to the learning potential. Anyway, I know website hosting isn’t the most exciting part of launching a website, but it’s truly one of the most important parts. It’s the thing you don’t realize you need until something goes wrong, which is why we offer it in all client website projects. Think of it like a combination of home security and insurance. It’s there to prevent an incident and kick in if something happens despite your best efforts. Whether we help you with your website security or not, do me a favor and promise you’ll practice these essentials, okay? Protect your passwords

Hi Reader, June was a big month for learning, connecting, and keeping an eye on what is next in the world of WordPress. From Hazel and Rachel attending WordCamp Europe in Kraków to our team monitoring upcoming WordPress Core updates, we are continuing to stay plugged into the tools and trends that help us better support our clients and their websites. 🌍 WordCamp Europe 2026 This June, Hazel and Rachel headed to Kraków, Poland for WordCamp Europe 2026, one of the largest gatherings of the...
Hi Reader, A few weeks ago, some of our servers were hacked. The days that followed were pretty intense (think late nights, heads down and dedicated to a quick clean-up). This was the second security incident we experienced in the past year (the one before that had been at least 10 years ago). When that last incident happened, we had put in additional safeguards, so our immediate priority was understanding how it could have happened again. Hazel and I leaped into action as soon as we caught...
Hi Reader, Phone calls are my love language. I know. In a world powered by texts and emails, that might be an unpopular opinion. Sure, you can always have too much of a good thing, but there’s a reason why my catch phrase is still “just call me.” Whether we worked together 3 days ago or 3 years ago, if something comes up, a quick call is the best way for us to get to the bottom of things. I can collect the context I need (without needing a massive email chain) and point you in the right...
