Hi Reader, The website world is full of jargon. If you’re trying to get a new website up and running, I don’t blame you if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Even just finding the right “type” of website team can be confusing, so I wanted to give you a little primer. Essentially, website teams usually land in one of two camps: Camp 1: Designers who build websitesThey typically lead with aesthetics, offer branding support, and create gorgeous-looking websites. That said, they tend to have less extensive technical/coding know-how. Sometimes, when you peek behind the curtain, the tech is bloated, or the structure isn’t built to grow. Camp 2: Website developersThese teams know how to build a site that’s technically pristine and functions really well. Hand them a plan, and they'll execute. But if you want them to help you figure out what you actually need (website goals, pages, functions) or get into your brand’s deeper whys, that's a different conversation. So which camp is for you? If you need a simple website with a strong brand presence, Camp 1, the designer, could do the trick. Alternatively, if you’ve already established your brand’s foundation and have an intentional website strategy set, you may just need a developer to make it happen. What if you need a bit of both, though? Brand strategy and a well-structured website? That’s why we do things the way we do at Drio. Let me be clear: Both of those specializations are super important, and we lean on experts in each area when we need to. But ultimately, that “either-or” lens isn’t how we tackle website projects. Instead, we start by considering both: business/brand strategy and tech logistics. So, by the time your website is finished, you’ll have a logical structure and a technically sound website… But also a site that makes it clear what values you stand for, who you want to work with, and what you want people to feel when they land there. In our eyes, it all goes hand-in-hand. If that sounds like something you need, we could be the website team for you. We’re here for you when you're ready.

Hi Reader, Our International Women’s Soiree isn’t a big money-maker, but that was never the goal. Even though it’s always a lot of work, Hazel and I keep running the event because it keeps us connected to the bigger picture and why we started Drio in the first place. Plus, it’s a blast. Each time we run it, I can expect our wonderful keynote speakers will light us up with their words of wisdom, and that I’ll have fun connecting with new and familiar faces. Each year also always brings an...
Hi Reader, I’m about to start the last class of my MBA. It’s crazy to think that, 21 months after it all kicked off, I’ll officially be graduated in May. As I’m gearing up for the last push, I’ve been thinking about the tennis player, Mirra Andreeva. There’s this thing she does when she wins a tournament that I never see anyone else do. First, she thanks her family, coaches, and opponents. Then she thanks herself. Here’s a snippet from that speech: “I know what I have been dealing with, and I...
Hi Reader, The transition from holiday hibernation to the sprint of the new year never fails to amaze me. How are we already over a week into February?? It can be daunting to picture all the goals you have for the year when that sprint starts. Sometimes I feel like I’m grasping for a pause button as I start to wonder how we’ll ever make the time. When that feeling hits, the thing that keeps me grounded is remembering that we have core systems ticking along nicely in the background. I could...
