Consider this your nudge 😉

Hi Reader,

I often want to say “yes” to too many opportunities. There just isn’t enough time!

Maybe you’re the same way? Maybe you’re shaking your head, NOPE.

As a duo, Hazel and I have to be on the same page before we jump on opportunities for Drio.

Sometimes we need to talk it through before we’re in agreement, and other times our intuition tells us it’s a perfect fit right away. Working together for 13 years means we know if a discussion is needed or if it’s an automatic “yes!”

Since we can’t do it all, we focus on finding the “yeses” with the most value. We’ve learned over the years that when we embrace the right “yes,” it often leads to other (maybe even better) opportunities.

That’s been the theme of 2024 here at Drio.

In just this year, I’ve said “yes” to:

I share this because some of those “yeses” felt intimidating at first.

It wasn’t easy to take the leap, but saying yes anyway showed us why it mattered.

Those moments reminded us that growth often comes from stepping into the unknown.

To be clear, I don’t think we should endlessly add more to our to-do lists just for the sake of more! That’s not helpful, right?

But it’s worth considering that maybe, just maybe, you do have space for one more Big Scary Yes.

2024 made it extra clear that we wouldn’t have the business we do today without embracing them. 😉

So, what “yes” are you considering right now? Hit reply and I’ll cheer you on.

Hi Reader, The way I see it, there are two main “types” of entrepreneurs. The Lifers: The entrepreneurs who commit to one big idea, building and refining it for years. Decades even. The Adventurers: The entrepreneurs who thrive on change, pivots, and the thrill of starting from scratch. A recent lunch with a fellow entrepreneur put that into perspective for me. We originally met in 2022 at a conference in Philadelphia - and we realized we were from the same hometown in Virginia. A few weeks...

Hi Reader, Spring has officially sprung, and so has the energy around here. March was one for the books, filled with community, creativity, and a whole lot of women-led magic. Let’s rewind and relive some of the incredible moments from this month: 🌟 Pava LaPere’s Legacy Lives On We were honored to participate in the Maryland Student Venture Showcase hosted by UpSurge Baltimore, where 39 student-founded ventures were celebrated for their bold ideas. Nine winners—including our very own Hazel...

Hi Reader, Whenever something doesn't go "perfectly," it can really get me down. In my leadership class, we recently talked about how women and girls are culturally and socially taught to aim for "perfection." From our work to our relationships and appearance…you know what I mean. On the flipside, boys are often taught to be bold and brave. Of course, there are variations (and men can struggle with perfectionism too!). But there's a clear trend, and it sure resonated with me. Whether it’s a...
