Hi Reader, Building a website is kind of like marriage. It takes compromise, communication, and collaboration. š Thatās what we channeled while working on our biggest project yet: A new website for the United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM). Their fantastic organization helps more people in Greater Baltimore gain access to health services, education, housing, and more. Hereās the thing. A strong website is a consistent website. The design elements, message, and user experience should carry through every page. With a project this largeāwith so many different teams that needed to be heardāthat was an extra special challenge. But collaboration made it possible. The UWCM team had lots of great ideas and goals they wanted to hit. Our job was to hear what they wanted and then infuse our recommendations. That meant there was compromising involved, but thatās where a projectās strength comes from. The client was happy to listen to our alternative solutions (which we love), and we were happy to use their feedback to build what they needed. I canāt tell you how many times the UWCM team said, āIām so glad we talked this through on a callā before we landed an answer. No matter the website, itās a symbiotic effortāa marriage between what you ask for and what we recommend. It takes plenty of (left and right) brainstorming and meeting each other in the middle. Now, UWCM has a user-friendly, on-brand website they can confidently maintain. The site makes it easy for members, donors, volunteers, and other users to find exactly what they need so they can take part in UWCMās initiatives. Check out UWCM.org to see all the amazing things theyāre doing for communities in Baltimore. š PS: Read the full case study about this project here.

Hi Reader, When you look at Martha Stewart, you see someone who made cooking, homekeeping, and decorating mainstream. When you look at Michael Phelps, you see the worldās most decorated Olympian. When you look at Damon John, you see an A-list CEO and charismatic Shark Tank personality. As I listened to each of those very successful people speak at this yearās Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Summit, it was the reality of their low-lows that really stuck with me. Martha went to prison for...

Hi Reader, The first time our website server had a serious security breach (circa 2012), damage control was a nightmare. I essentially had to manually rebuild every client website. Hours and hours and hours of work⦠If I hadnāt done that, however, I wouldnāt have accidentally become an expert in website security. Iāve been able to apply everything I learned to every other website project, which means weāve avoided a ton of threats. While itās much less of an ordeal to problem-solve nowadays,...
